People can sober up whenever they want to. Fiction. Tricks like drinking numerous amounts of coffee and taking cold showers do not make people become sober. It takes time for someone to sober up. The amount of time is based off of many things, such as weight, height, what the person has eaten, etc. People cannot sober up whenever they want; they need to wait until the alcohol has been removed from the body.
