Alcohol in Islam
Intoxicants In islam were forbidden in the Qur'an through several separate verses revealed at different times over a period of years. At first, it was forbidden for Muslims to attend to prayers while intoxicated .
Then a later verse was revealed which said that alcohol contains some good and some evil, but the evil is greater than the good . This was the next step in turning people away from consumption of it. Finally, "intoxicants and games of chance" were called "abominations of Satan's handiwork," intended to turn people away from God and forget about prayer, and Muslims were ordered to abstain
Why Muslims Don’t Drink Alcohol :
- Alcohol and prayer do not mix.
- It’s addictive
- Liquor clouds the intellect.
- It gives the wrong message to children
- Alcohol makes one forget
- Alcohol can lead to criminality
Alcohol Muslim
One of the biggest problems in our society is alcoholism. It leads to other problems and the Quran has the solution to this problem. The Qur'an says in Surah Al Maida :
“O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), and gambling, and Al‑Ansaab (stone altars for sacrifices to idols, jinn, etc), and Al‑Azlaam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaytaan’s (Satan’s) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.“
So the Quran tells us that alcoholism, gambling, are abomination of Shaytaan’s (Satan’s) handiwork.. So avoid that in order that you may be successful.
There is an inhibitory center in the brain. It prevents you from doing things that are not correct.
For example if you need to urinate he will orde you to go to the toilet rather than do it here on your computer or in front of everyone.
If you talk to your elders (someone older), he will tell you to speak with respect, without abusing parents and elders. it would mean that the inhibitory center of your brain is going to work well. But drunk, this inhibitory center is closed by alcohol.
Therefore, it is not surprising to see alcoholics (drunks) who urinate in their clothes. They speak evil way, they do not respect their parents. And according to the statistics of Western countries, especially the United States, most rapes, nearly 95% occurred while intoxicated. Or the rapist is drunk or the victim is drunk.
And almost all cases of incest (sexual relations with relatives of the family eg father-daughter, mother-son, brother-sister, aunt-nephew, ...) took place while intoxicated.
This is the case when people are drunk. And one of the main causes of the spread of AIDS is alcoholism.
What are the reasons for alcohol consumption?
Some say they drink in society, and on the other to avoid the cold in their countries.
If you feel that you are cold, why not sit in front of a fire, and if you Want to drink why not drink honey. Honey keeps you warmer than alcohol. So there are better solutions.
In honey there is not drunk you feel when you drink alcohol. People give you excuses to drink, there are even those who are willing to accept Islam, but they can not give up alcohol. So apologies for not accepting Islam.
Wine in Islam

All intoxicants were made haraam in Islam’s religious scripture at different times over a period of years. Over the years, the list of intoxicating substances has come to include more modern street drugs and the like.
For Muslims, when something is made haraam, this means that thing is harmful to one’s health and contribution to the community. That also means Muslims aren’t supposed to encourage others to consume in any haraam, irrespective of who they are.
Dealing with the alcohol trade comes under the haraam category. The Prophet Muhammad forbade people from all actions related to the wine industry, including pressing wine, drinking it, serving it, selling it or buying it. This severity is to stop the expansion of harm caused by alcohol.
And above all, drinking is a lifestyle choice for socialising and enjoying food, a lifestyle that Muslims simply do not indulge in.
